Responsibilities of a Southeast Soccer Club Coach

Pre-Season (Spring & Fall)

  1. Register your soccer player and volunteer yourself as a coach/assistant coach

  2. Review and complete seasonal SafeSport training or refreshers - Concussion & Conduct Trainings

  3. Attend the fall or spring coaches meeting for seasonal orientation

  4. Obtain official team roster and parent/guardian contacts from the SESC Registrar

  5. Email the parents/guardians to make initial contact, determine and communicate the best means of future communication

    • Southeast Soccer Club recommends the use of TeamApp

  6. Determine equipment needs for the season, provide information to SESC Registrar as requested

  7. Determine practice days of the week and times, provide information to SESC Registrar and resolve conflicts as needed

  8. Create and/or configure your team the TeamApp site (https://www.teamapp.com/) to include four minimum features:

    • Chat: us the Team App chat function as the primary means of communication

    • Game Schedule: link directly your NYSL game schedule, which updates as games our rescheduled

    • Practice Schedule: use the Team App calendar to schedule reoccurring practices at your desired days and time

    • SESC Home - a link to the Southeast Soccer Club website for additional resources:

  9. Add all parents/guardians to the TeamApp as members, share the name of the TeamApp team so spouses, grandparents and other relatives can obtain the information and keep in the loop

In-Season & Game Day

  1. Take 2 copies of your Game Day Roster (GDR) to each match, 1 for the officials and 1 for the opposing coach

  2. Take 3 flags to all away game matches (U9 and up), its best just to carry them with you for all home & away games

  3. Participate in post-game scoring as directed by the NYSL

  4. Monitor home field conditions and report issues

  5. Work with fellow coaches to resolve conflicts and submit rescheduling requests as mutually agreeable

  6. Be accountable for the conduct of yourself, your assistant coach, your players and your fans

  7. Be patient with the game referees, understand they are often young athletes too, learning a new craft
